School is almost back in session so we are being forced back into a morning routine. I thrive on spontaneity, but I must admit, every August I’m reminded how badly I missed (and need) a good morning routine to set the tone for the day. Today we are partnering with Wayfair to share with you guys a peek into our (soon to be) mornings during the week and a couple of tips we have found helpful over the years to set ourselves up for success!
We try to wake up at least half an hour before the girls for a little slice of peace & quiet. We make coffee and I fill diffusers before waking the girls around 6:45. They’ve been sleeping in until after 8:00 all Summer so this will be an adjustment for us.
We try to keep breakfast super simple during the week, which is tip number one for a low-stress school morning. We rotate eggs + toast, yogurt + fruit, avocado toast, bagels with peanut butter, or SMOOTHIES! You all know how much our family loves smoothies!! We have been making them every morning this summer and it is everyone’s favorite way to start the day! We make them super simple, which is so necessary if it’s something you want to easily incorporate into your daily routine. I buy bags of frozen fruit and add whole milk (no ice!) and top with protein granola, coconut, and sometimes a scoop of peanut butter or nutella.
Right now during Wayfair’s Back to School Sale, you can grab this Cuisinart Hurricane To Go Compact Juicing Blender for your morning smoothie making! I love this blender for a few reasons. One, it’s compact, so easy to put away and does not have to be left out on the counter. I love that the blade is down inside the base so it is safe for our kids to use and operate. Harper loves to help make breakfast! The travel cups are great too so we can make ourselves a protein smoothie to take on the go as we run out the door. If you’re a parent you know that finding time to eat in the morning isn’t always easy, especially if your kiddos are
younger!
We try to keep mornings as simple as possible by having the girls pick outfits as well as packing up backpacks with their library books and a zillion other odds and ends all the night before. It’s part of their bedtime routine to get things ready for school the next day. Honestly, we are a family that is *always* running late but also doesn’t like to be rushed, so this makes all the
difference!
I keep a simple rolling cart in our shoe closet downstairs with hair supplies and socks so it’s quick & easy to find things to finish getting ready before school. Keeping socks in the shoe closet is a game game-changer!
Also, never underestimate the power of music in the morning! I always have an upbeat playlist on as soon as we wake up to set the mood for the day. Kitchens are for dancing after all.
