Summer Smoothie Bowls

We have been making smoothies every morning this summer and it is everyone’s favorite way to start the day! We make them super simple, which is so necessary if it’s something you want to easily incorporate in you daily routine. AND of course make sure all your kids will eat it and love it!

For the smoothie: I use bags of frozen fruit only, no ice. I love a fruit mix, something with strawberries, mango, pineapple & peaches to start, and then I add frozen wild blueberries and also usually some frozen raspberries or blackberries. Truly, just throw anything in there. I also always throw in a banana, usually from the pantry, not frozen, because it helps make it a little creamier and less tart. For our liquid, I do Simply Almond unsweetened almond milk, I swear it is the best one out there for smoothies. I also break open capsules of our multigreen vitamins or add a handful of spinach if I have some on hand, you don’t even taste it. Anyway, toss it all in the blender and blend until smooth. If you’ve been here a while, you know I don’t measure anything, obviously.

For the toppings: this is the fun part! We do a scoop of peanut butter or almond butter (I use the Justin’s brand), unsweetened coconut flakes, granola of any kind & some more fresh fruit! And if you’re feeling like a treat, make things even more fun and add Nutella!

And the most important part, when you make them, always make one extra and deliver to a friend or neighbor! XO

  1. I love starting my day with a smoothie! Two of my current favorites are pine-orange-banana matcha (tastes like the Dole juice!) and a chocolate berry smoothie with frozen berries and chocolate protein powder. So good!!
