Valentine’s Playlist

Remember the old days of mix tapes & burning playlists onto discs? When Brandon & I were dating in high school, he made me a cd for our first Valentine’s together, and we continued to listen to it for the next ten years or so. I’m not sure where that old cd ended up, but one of the songs on it is on the first Shrek movie, which we watch all the time with the kids. Brings back the sweetest memories! All of that to say, I put together my current Valentine’s playlist, fun to listen to on date night, with the kiddos or if you are hosting a festive brunch or dinner.

I love so many of these songs & will listen to them all year! Such a sucker for a good love song and a romantic comedy. Claire was sick last week & we watched Because I Said So a few times, such a good flick to put you in the Valentine’s Day mood! πŸ™‚

Would love for you to share what songs are your must-haves for Valentine’s Day or what is your wedding/first dance song? I know I’m missing some good ones! Hope you are all having a happy week! XO

  1. Ben Folds is a favorite around our house. Amazing vocals and piano skills. We have a valentines date to a Ben Folds concert with the symphony coming up. I can’t wait! ❀️

  2. omg! We used to make each other CDs for EVERY Valentine’s Day! I totally forgot about that! I would listen to it EVERY SINGLE time I drove from my college to his….OVER AND OVER!

  3. Must Play Valentines Mix:
    Georgia-Vance Joy
    Love Like This- Kodaline
When I Get My Hands On You- The New Basement Tapes
    Sedona-Houndsmouth
    Old Pine- Ben Howard
    Slow It Down- Lumineers

I walked down the aisle to Crush by DMB on a harp and my first dance was Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron and Wine. I too am a sucker for love songs πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing yours!

  4. Our wedding song is Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. Was the first song we ever danced to and still makes me melt. Crazy Love is a close second though!!

  5. We danced to a Snoop Dogg song for our first dance! hahaha Its actually a very sweet and tropical song, and considering we got married in Jamaica, it was fitting! πŸ˜‰ Its called “The Good Good” by Snoop “Lion” (when he was going by Lion for that period of time). Its a fun love song and different than the usual ones you hear. πŸ™‚

  6. Our wedding song was Faithfully by Journey. Have you thought about doing a Spotify list so we can follow you and listen to your playlists there? Then you could link it and we could listen. 😊

  7. Ray Lamontagne is one of my favorites, too! I just love him! Our first dance at our wedding was Love Song by 311… they are my hubby’s favorite band (#90s – ha!) and that song is just so romantic. It was perfection.

One song to add to your list is The Way You Look Tonight but it has to be the Tony Bennett version… it’s the best one!

  8. We danced to “Dancing Shoes” by Green River Ordiance and it makes me tear up every time I hear it! The lyrics literally are so fitting for our life! I would definitely recommend!! ❀️

  9. Great list! We danced to Straight No Chaser’s mashup of I’m Yours / Somewhere Over the Rainbow. πŸ™‚ I also love “You and Me” by DMB, which was our last dance song.

  10. John Hiatt “Have a Little Faith in Me” – that was my wedding dance song πŸ™‚
    Van Morrison – “Crazy Love”
Jimmy Buffett – “Happily Ever After”
Walter Egan – “Magnet and Steel” (my parents song <3)
Marty Robbins – "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife" (great song for hubbys to their wives!)

  11. Love this list! We danced to “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz and our friend sang Edwin McCain’s “I’ll Be” while we lit our candles. Two somewhat cliche songs, but the words in both are so beautiful! I love how the words to “I Won’t Give Up” are a constant reminder that marriage isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, but it’s always worth fighting for! <3

  12. The luckiest is so good from my favorite movie ever. About time if you haven’t seen it you should. Colors amos lee is what I walked down the beach to at my wedding.

  13. ❀️❀️❀️Your list! Ray Lamontagne & Van Morrison were two of our big wedding songs, and God Only Knows is our secret us song 😍 Happy Valentine’s Day!

  14. “I’ll be your man” by James Blunt! Oh you will love it if you haven’t already heard itπŸ’•

And our first dance was to “Your Song” by Elton John, so so so wonderful.

  15. “You Send Me” by Aretha Franklin was one of my favorites that we played at our wedding, but the song we had our first dance to was “Sea Breeze” by Tyrone Wells.

  16. Ed Sheeran & Tori Kelly – “I Was Made for Loving You” – all time FAVORITE (we walked down the aisle to the Ray Lamontagne song – “You Are The Best Thing” – one of my favs!!)

  17. Our first dance was to “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes. I wish we would have chosen a good Keith Urban song like “Only You Can Live Me This Way.”

Can you do a Q&A for one of your posts?! That would be so awesome! Or even if you did it in Snapchat or insta!

  18. Our wedding song was “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye. Definitely had some laughs from the crowd and gives us a smile every time we hear the first few beats of the song come on!

  19. We love Ben Folds! Another cool find if you’re looking for something alternative and folksy– Brett Dennen. Both were artists that my guy told me about six years ago when we started dating and I was in college. We used to listen to them at night together while we texted or talked on the phone. Funny how sentimental things become.

  20. so many great love songs… these are our Go-Tos

Ray Lamontagne “Hold You In My Arms” “Shelter” and “Let It Be Me”
    David Gray “This Year’s Love”
Amos Lee “In the Arms of a Woman”
    Griffin House “Better than Love”
The Wood Brothers “Muse” and “Luckiest Man”
    Chris Stapleton “Tennessee Whiskey”
    Rachael Vamagata Ray Lamontagne “duet”

  21. You Are the Best Thing- Ray Lamontange
    Crazy Love- Michael Buble
Stand by Me- Ben E. King
Like a Wrecking Ball- Eric Church
Love Your Love the Most- Eric Church
Have a Little Faith in Me- Joe Cocker

  22. Walked down the aisle to my husband strumming on guitar “here comes the sun” and then blue and yellow by the used was our first dance. I love moonlit serenade instrumental too!
